Professional
I offer a professional garden design service for gardens in SW London, Surrey and West Sussex. I have recently completed 4 years training as a garden designer, culminating in successful completion of the Capel Manor Diploma in Garden Design and being awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Best Garden Design Student in my final year course. I aim to offer the best value in professionally designed gardens, whether traditional, formal or contemporary.
Costs
During the initial visit, if you decide that you would like to take on my services, I will take down a brief detailing the work that you would like to cover. When this is agreed, I will provide a written quotation outlining my design fees. There is no fixed design fee as all gardens and client requirements are unique, but a design fee would typically be around 5-20% of the total design and build cost depending on the size and complexity of the areas to be considered. The design fee would typically cover two client meetings, one of which covers a survey and site appraisal, outline garden plan and detailed planting plan. Additional work may be required or specified, for example site and design complexity or contractor chosen may necessitate detailed construction or setting out plans to be drawn up. I can also provide coloured or 3D views of the proposed design and, during construction, monitor the build process if required.
Unique
I design to your brief to provide a garden in a style of your choosing. I do not use standard off the shelf designs. Every design is unique to your requirements and site conditions. My designs are functional and logical, with a good use of space, proportion, strong geometry and bold planting. I like to push the boundaries and experiment with new ideas and concepts, but I am equally happy to keep to a more traditional style. I use a mix of traditional hand drawn sketches and CAD which result in accurate plans specific to your requirements.
Best Value
Some of my previous designs I personally worked on. I understand about construction and what is or is not economically possible. I no longer build my own designs but can assist the client in choosing the most appropriate contractors for the work to be done. I am independent of any landscape contractor, so you will have a comprehensive professionally designed set of plans that meets your brief prior to committing to a landscaper contractor for the build. You will know what to expect on completion and there should be no hidden surprises when the completed garden is not quite as you expected. By having the design finalised on paper, potential problems can be identified earlier and accommodated in the design rather than being found on site during the build when substantial costs may already have been incurred. By using an independent professional garden designer and selecting the most appropriate landscape contractor (or building it yourself), you can achieve the best value route to achieving a professionally designed garden.
Specialist
Some sites or designs may require the use of external specialist services: large or complex sites may need a professional survey prior to design, significant level changes may need a structural engineer to calculate the requirements of retaining walls, or you may want a specialised water feature to be designed and built. I can liaise with professionals experienced in these areas and monitor all aspects of the build on your behalf.
Caring
When the garden is built, I can supply and plant all the plants needed to complete your beautiful garden and organise on going maintenance to keep it looking that way.
